Load Bearing Wall Removal Permit Project

Load Bearing Wall Removal & Interior Alteration Permit – Richmond Hill, ON

This Richmond Hill interior alteration project involved the removal of two perpendicular load-bearing walls to create a modern open-concept layout between the existing living room and family room, along with permit drawings for a finished basement renovation.

The homeowners wanted a professional wall removal design solution that would open the main floor while maintaining the structural integrity of the existing house.

Permit Man prepared structural and permit drawings for the proposed wall removal, including a steel beam system designed to redistribute structural loads and eliminate the need for intermediate support posts within the new open space.

Our scope included structural design for the load-bearing wall removal, preparation of Ontario Building Code compliant permit drawings, and coordination of the finished basement requirements for submission to the City of Richmond Hill.

The proposed structural solution utilized intersecting steel beams concealed within the ceiling assembly to achieve a clean and unobstructed interior layout while maintaining the architectural flow of the home.

This project demonstrates how proper engineering design and permit coordination can transform traditional compartmentalized spaces into bright and functional open-concept living areas.
