Commercial design & change of use permit
A change of use permit is used for changing the purpose of a building, or even just part of it. This permit is needed whenever a building will be used for a different usage – or occupancy – than it was previously, such as when an old hotel is converted into a restaurant. Other factors also weigh into whether a change of use is possible, most notably the zoning bylaws in that area.
As per the description, to change the use of a whole building or part of it, a change of use permit is required even if no construction is involved. All the related existing specifications related to each occupancy need to be checked, evaluated, studied & revised if non-conforming to it. A proposed change of use permit package will be prepared implementing the Ontario Building Code(OBC) information & data matrix accordingly, to make sure it can provide the level of safety required
